About Weng

Weng Tchung holds a First Class Master of Law degree from the University of Cambridge, with a specialization in Commercial Law, as well as a First Class Bachelor of Law Degree from Oxford Brookes University. He was the first recipient of the prestigious Tun Suffian Foundation Cambridge Scholarship.

Weng Tchung has a broad commercial and civil dispute resolution practice, with experience in commercial, corporate, contractual and trusts disputes. He has appeared and conducted or assisted in trials, hearings and appeals involving complex legal issues at all levels of the judicial hierarchy in Malaysia up to the Federal Court.

In the sphere of non-contentious work, Weng Tchung specialises in commercial trusts and private client work, and regularly advises corporate trustees on all aspects of trust deeds as well as the powers and duties of trustees in relation to, among others, syndicated loans, bonds and estate planning.

Outside of practice, Weng Tchung is the author of The Law of Restitution and Unjust Enrichment in Malaysia (2015), the first dedicated textbook on the law of restitution and unjust enrichment in Malaysia.

Weng Tchung was a contributor and assistant editor to Sinnadurai, Law of Contract, 4th Edition (2011), the authoritative textbook on contract law in Malaysia. He is also a contributor to Malaysian Civil Procedure (the White Book), the well-known practitioners' text on civil procedure.
